The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, announced today that defenseman and Assistant Captain Dane Birks has returned to the team from his call-up to the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. Birks’ return serves as the first Black Hills Chiropractic Roster Adjustment of 2020.
Birks comes back to the Rush following his first AHL call-up of the season with the Tucson Roadrunners, but did not see action with the Rush affiliate. The 6’2”, 190-pound blue-liner has a goal and 4 assists for 5 points, along with a +4 rating through 23 games with the Rush. On an NHL contract with the Arizona Coyotes, the Merritt, British Columbia native was named an Assistant Captain of the Rush on December 20th prior to the team’s game against the Allen Americans.
The Rush start off 2020 on the road against the Utah Grizzlies for a “three-in-three”, beginning tonight, January 3rd. Puck drop for tonight and Saturday, January 4th, is slated for 7:10 p.m. MDT, while the Sunday, January 5th, matinee finale is slated for 1:10 p.m. MDT at the Maverik Center.
Following this weekend, the Rush will return to home ice to face the Cincinnati Cyclones for the first time ever in Rapid City on Wednesday, January 8th, Friday, January 10th, and Saturday, January 11th. Puck drop for all three contests is slated for 7:05 p.m. MDT. On January 11th, the Rush will host “Nickelodeon Night”, presented by Black Hills Energy, featuring specialty Paw Patrol themed jerseys. Additionally, the team will also celebrate the birthday of our lovable mascot, Nugget, and the first 1,000 fans will have the chance to take home a commemorative Nugget bobble head giveaway.
